I believe that the emulatou app itself is not illegat it is the ROM images that may be and i also believe that they are only illegal if you don't own the origional cart' or disk. Homebres shouldnt be ittegal as its generally not copyrighted. Usually it all depends on the copyright and other laws in the country you live in. This info was gathered from a website i can no longer remember, i fount it a few years ago when i was away from home but had my iBook and wanted to play my SNES games w/o tv os SNES. The site looked reputable and had rom images that apeared to be under licence. However the only dubious part i saw was the info it gave where it said 'it is illegal to download and use a ROM immage for more than 24hrs if you do not own the origional game.' However back to the point, as mentioned the legal issues surrounding emulators and rom files are sticky and im sure that there may be other places where the info can be found, or you could always get a lawyer to check it out for you if you have a few grand going spare. Jul 19, 2010  The N64 Emulator I use in Mac OS X is called SixtyForce, it opens and plays N64 ROM’s quite well and allows you to run the games at full screen or in windowed mode, customize your controls to use either a keyboard or USB gamepad, and more. Nintendo 64 Emulators The N64 was released in mid-1996 as Nintendo's front-runner in the original next-gen console wars. It's old and to access save states you need to pay up. But for what it's worth, it works well enough. On my old MacBook (late 2007) and then a school-issued one (2009) I was able to use wxmupen64+, or something like that. It had an iffy gui but it was much better compatibility-wise than sixtyforce. It doesn't seem to play nice with my newer MacBook Pro (2012) though, the B button doesn't work.

With the coming usb/mounting support for PSTV, I suppose the decryption thing could be worked around, we just need an adapter, but its a small and tight fit, so its not something easy to fix. And I know the N64 isn't magic, that was a joke. Its just got very very irregular hardware, an odd clock-speed, a hybrid GPU/Sound processor that shares ram, its just, a very oddly designed platform.

Someone suggested to me mupen64py, but I have no idea how to set it up. Dolphin is most definitely not a good N64 emulator. But Most Virtual Console games should run very well in Dolphin at this point. There is the overhead of Emulating a Wii emulating an emulator, but, most Virtual Console games should work fine in Dolphin. The three big exceptions would be Ocarina of Time, Pokemon Snap and Majora's Mask, with minor problems in Pokemon Puzzle League as well. There are also some games that work better on Dolphin due to shortcuts Nintendo took when emulating, like Mario Tennis (unless things have changed since I last used the N64 emulators.) If you know of other issues with the virtual console in Dolphin, I'll gladly look into them and setup issue reports.

I know there was a user messing with the GPU end of things, but that was some time ago now and haven't heard about it since. And I agree I lean toward sony's library though there are gems on most consoles after all, but that could use some fine-tuning too, the PS1 emulator, it works. Pretty well, but still always room for improvement. We still can't play the majority of ps1 games and even ones that DO play well, some have issues like Tomba 2's music, or missing portraits in games and the like.

• Type a – N64 Free (N64 Emulator) in Search bar and install it. Now you can use a – N64 Free (N64 Emulator) on your PC or MAC. Poorly developed! Do not download. I have tried playing a number of different titles on this Emulator and some work well, most others don't. It either crashes, glitches out the game (ex: not showing textures) or it freezes and I have to restart it to make it work again.

Best N64 Emulators Although, N64 always lagged behind in sales, but was a more powerful machine than Sony’s PlayStation or Sega’ Saturn. Nintendo was selling the machine on the merits of its quick-loading cartridge system and the small fact that it featured a 64-bit architecture. Unfortunately, people were more influenced by high-storage CD media, in-game movie series and pre-recorded soundtracks than Nintendo’s fast loading and the size of the machine’s pipeline. Developers and gamers preferred PlayStations more due to N64’s inability to provide media-rich content which high-end graphics games such as demanded. Although the hardware supported classics such as the late Perfect Dark and GoldenEye, it was not enough for Nintendo to acquire over the crowds.
